This song is about telling how he love her, but song is kind of sad, but still this song is about love. Tone and word he used showing how love her. To be happiness and/or wealth, I think fall in love is the best example. Love is power ful thing.

Hee-Young, which is one of my Korean friends, left an impression on me. She had long hair and wore dress like a other girl, but she was very cool and weird to me. When I first met her, she was thinking about why boys have short hair and girls have long hair. This made me to think, too. She had many boy friends than girl friends. She was my first girl that looked like boy to me. Her clothes became a glider when she jump to tree to tree. She had pretty voice so when she singing like a bard. Finding the theme of "About Effie" was very hard to me. When I finished this story, I thought there is no theme of the story. At last, I think I found the theme of this story. I think the theme of this story is caring others. Because in the story, all the characters care each other.

Effie was waiting a man who come when rain come with lightning and music. She always waited "him". I think he is very importance to her. He was the meaning of the her life.

In the Bible, Jesus told to his followers to waite for their father and pary to him. I think Timothy Findley wanted to show every people have someone who is very meaning for to them like a God.

I think the answer is yes or no, because I'm non-Christian. I have to research lots of data and try to understand the God to do my project of Bible class. Even I research and get information of God, I could not understand the God. If someone asked to write about God's world, my answer will NO!

Sin-hen is a "character" in my life I admire. He is one of my best friends in Korean school. He is really good at playing a guitar and I learned how to volunteer to poor. He was the head of service club and I was co-leader. We made that club together but that was his idea. My club went to many places, and I saw him servicing poorwith his love. He is really good and cool person. And also he is mt best friend.

We can get clues that reveal about the theme of a short story in the setting. Theme is the idea of author want to tell and teach us. The characters have different feeling and idea in different setting. For example, if setting is the battle field, the character might have bad feeling of the world. Like this theme will change by setting of the story.

Characters are most importance thing in the story. Because without them, there is no conflict. If there is no conflict, there will be no theme and moral. Also no one will read that story, becasue it will be boring and no use. Feeling of chacters can show theme of the story like sad, happy, etc.

3. What is the strongest setting you have ever encountered in your own life (the place that has impacted you the most). Describe this place and ponder if God revealed anything about Himself or His truth in this place.
When I went to house of hope for service with service club, I saw lots of poor poeple who lost their home and family because there were handicap. There were same as us even kind to us and there were happy. They looked like a child who need love.

Reader’s Response of "Two Kinds"

In the page 93 line 13, I, the one who is in the story, was complaining to her mother that she is not a genius. Every mother want their child be best. My mother is one of them. She want me to be best in everything. If I make same small mistake that others do, she start disappoint to me. I know she is doing that beacuse she love me, but it hurts my feeling and want to say "I'm not a genius!!" to my mother.
In the page 90 line 33, her mother always discourage her daughthter. She always use discouraging words. When my mother gets angry to me, she always say with discouraging words. I think that will show her feeling to us, but it will makes us to give up.
In the page 91 line 30~33, her mother disappointed to her daughter, because her daughter did not get and not understand what she learned in her school. Sometimes I can see my parents' disappointment face when I tell my idea to them. I think my idea was right but they did not think like me. Until now, I cannot understand why they were disappointed to me.

The theme of my life is happyness and exciment. Every day when a wake up in my bed, I have a family that help me, and a home which fill in love. Everyday I have conflicts and advenyure.

I think God did not plan for this world. I think he made it just fot his fun. Because before the creation of the Earth, he was lonely so I think that is why he create the world.

I can read a title of the story and then think about what is this title relate to the story. Then start read the story. While I am reading a story, I will find each characters actions and their feelings. And then think about meanings of their actions. When I finish the story, think about the conclution of the story. Finally make connections of my ides(thought). Then I will find them of the story.

2. What is the theme of " The Utterly Perfect Murder" and how does this theme relate to your own life?
The themes of "The Utterly Perfecfect Murfer" are lonely, disappointment and regretment. Sometimes, I do dissappoint to my friends and so due them. They forget what they promised to me. That's hurt my feelings and my trust. I often regret thing that I made it. When I was in Korean school, I made a jok that can hurt my friends feeling. So she cried. I was so sorry for her and disappoint myself.

3. How is a moral of a story different from a theme?
The theme is the main point that the aurthor is trying to tell to the reader. Theme is ideas of the aurthor that is good for us. The moral is a practical lesson in the story.

1. Why do authors use figurative language?
Authors use figurative language because it describes an idea through comparison. Authors use it to make their messages more powerful. When audiences identify figurative language, their understanding will increases and they will improve their writing skills. For my case, I use it for fun. I like to find simile or metaphor in the story, so I often use them in my writing. I think it makes my work cool.

2. List 3 metaphors that you think are really beautiful or interesting?

"I'll be the grapes fermented, bottled and served with the table set in my finest suitlike a perfect gentlemen " in this metaphor, I can know that he will served someone gentle and feel graet like grapes fermented, which is wine. I always want to be a gentleman so this one is interesting to me.

"I'll be your winter coat buttoned and zippedstraight to the throatwith the collar up so you won't catch a cold" in this metaphor, I can feel love of someone this one wants to make one, who this person loves, to be warm. I think every loves are beauitful.

I “The Utterly Perfect Murder” will be about revenge. When I was kingdergarden, I wanted to revenge to my sister becaues she broke my faverite toy. So I ate her snack without asking. After I ate her snack, I was happy because my mom baught new toy and I ate free snack.

I found a book where a characters are a lot like my sister and me. In that story, older sister planned to disappaer from her home. She saved her money and made her brother to join it. They had lots of fight during disappaer from their home. My sister always wants me to join her plan and we always have fight when we are together. Also older sister in the story, she love to spend money and younger brother like to save the money. This is almost same as my sister and me. Maybe I will find more books that have a character which a lot like me.

I think this part is a exposition of Jesus Christ’s life. John came before Jesus born and passage above is telling story of John then John telling about Jesus Christ that how greatful him and will be. Also this passage introduing Jesus. That why I think this part is a exposition of Jesus Christ’s life.

Stories need to be stuctured, because if there are not stuctured, events in the story will mixed up so no one can understand the theme or main question.

After I looked at the plot graph and structure of "Marigolds", I saw some kind of pattern of stairs that show feeling of main character.

4. What is the theme of Marigolds and how does the stucture of the story make that theme evident?

The theme of Marigolds was loneliness. Miss Lottie paint her marigold for her loneliness. Marigolds are the stucture of the story that shows loneliness.

Personal Connections

In the sixth paragraph, Joey and Lizabeth were only children left at their house. All other siblings left their home. I was left at my grandparents house in Seoul for a while. My sister went camp and my pareants and my brother were at home in Deajon. I was boring and had to help my grandparents.

In page 78 line 31, Lizabeth ran arround and raggedy chothes when she was young. When I was second grade, I played in the mud and jumped everyway and I did not care about my chothes.

In the first line of page 79, it said children made a game of thinking of ways to disturb John Burke. When I was kid, my friends and I like to play disturb others. Like keep asking same question over and over again. We very enjoyed it.

In the second paragraph of page 79, Lizabeth and her friends made a rumor about Miss Lottie that she was a witch and believed it. When I was elementary school, There were lots of rumor of teachers and none known students.

Short Story

Exposition:

My family like to go to vacation to Jeju Island. Most of the time, we like to have vacation in Jeju Island during winter, because Jeju Island is too hot during summer, but in winter, it is warm, beautiful and food is great. Last winter, my family decided to have vacation in Jeju Island. My sister, my little brother and I were very excited. My sister and I packed our bags. While we were packing, my little brother Woo-Jin, who was 5 years old, was making dirty picture with his toy on the whole living room, what a travilmaker. At last, he got punishment from father. My family went to bed early becasue we need to leave early so we counld get a plane. My family left our home approximately 9 am and headed to Chungju airport.

Rising Action:

My family arrived Chungju airport about 9:45. My parents went to place where can get plane ticket and send our bags to Jaju Island. My little brother found a little spider and got scared so he squash a spider with his foot. while he tried see check it was dead, my parents came back so I lift my brother and followed my parents. We sat on the bench and wait for our plane. My sister and I started to read a book while we were waiting. After 20minutes passed, My father found out my brother is gone. All my family members started to looked for him. When I was almost cry because I got scared that if we lost him, I remember he wanted to check a dead body of spider. I ran where a dead body of spider, then I found him. His face was filled with worry. I hug him and carryed him to where my family was. My parents got very angry at him so they punish him. After hour passed, we got into the plane.

Climax:

When we arrived Jaju Island, My parents were still angry at my brother. But when our family saw the beautiful scenery of Jaju, realizing we were in paradise, anger disappear. Finally all stress were gone.

Falling action:

My family came to hotel almost at night. We enjoyed spa in the hotel and have delicious dinner.

After dinner, my family got sleep except me, so I went out the room and start to walked down to the beach. I sat on the sand and watch stars in the sky. It thought about what happened that day. I remember beauty of this island and worry face of my brother. I smiled.

Resolution:

I came bock to room and washed my hand, then I change my clothes. Finally I lied on the bad and fell a sleep.

I like to read a fantasy and an adventure. In fantasy, I can imagine that I'm in the story. I also like imagination animals in the fantasy. They are very creative. In kind of an adventure stories, It is very fun to read that the ways characters in the story solving conflicts during the adventure.

I like to lay on my bed or sit on the something while I'm reading a book. My favorite place to read is on the tree but it is not often happen. If a book is a boring book, I listen to music, if it is not, I do not listen to music because the book is already fun.

I think books should be made into movies, because there are some people who hate to read a book. By making books into movies,they will watch the movies so they will learn some lessons.
